Hey guys, I am about to rebuild a VW 1.6 NA Diesel. This engine is very efficient and clean among many other diesel engines from what I have heard. For those of you that do not know, this is a complete mechanical engine, no computer, no electronics of any kind for the most part.
I have been reading quite a bit lately and I know that the newer so called 'clean diesel' engines use particulate filters as well as a type of catalytic converter that lowers the NOX.
My main goal is MPG of course, but if there is a way to clean up the exhaust, I am all for it.
Is there an aftermarket particulate filter setup? Should I install one of the newer style 'diesel' catalytic converters?
any information would be greatly appreciated.
