Innovative, effective, reliable NOx reduction from Grundfos

Precise urea dosing system reduces emissions considerably

Complying with emission legislation has just become easier thanks to Grundfos NoNOx SCR urea dosing solutions. Based on Grundfos’ digital dosing pump technology, NoNOx solutions are among the most effective and reliable solutions available today.

A stepper motor and advanced electronics are employed to deliver precise amounts of urea, i.e. AdBlue, over a wide range of fuel flow. Grundfos NoNox solutions can be used with most Euro 1, 2, and 3 applications, achieving Euro 4 and 5 emission compliance.

Why choose Grundfos NoNOx®?

Exhaust after-treatment systems based on Grundfos NoNOx® UDS provide numerous benefits:

  • High NOx conversion (up to 90%)
  • High repeatability and accuracy of ± 1% of actual urea dosing rate
  • Simple installation and setup
  • Documented high performance with low NH3 slip
  • Documented very low N2O formation
  • Can be combined with bio fuel vehicles
  • Ability to optimise engine settings for diesel efficiency (up to 10% fuel savings in OEM applications)
  • One UDS type for a wide range of engines (up to 16 litres engines)
  • Extension of vehicle life cycle from Euro 2/3 to Euro5 compliance

Proven results

Grundfos NoNOx solutions have proven themselves in numerous real-life installations in Denmark, the UK, and Belgium.

Grundfos also supplies Cummins Emission Solutions with digital urea dosing pumps. These pumps are used in combination with catalytic exhaust products and ensure compliance with Euro 4 emission regulations per 1 October 2006.

Innovative hydraulic circuit

Grundfos Digital Dosing technology allows very precise dosing. This leads to high NOx conversion with low risk of ammonia slip. The hydraulic circuit brings the dosed volume of urea to the injection nozzle in the exhaust system, where it is atomized.

Dosing frequency is also adjusted automatically based on a number of factors, which are either measured by sensors or supplied by the electronic control system of the engine via the CAN-link. In the current Retrofit Dosing System, the intelligent circuit monitors different parameters through four sensors, increasing or decreasing dosing frequency accordingly. With an effective NOx reduction system, engines can be optimised for better fuel consumption.

Product variants

Variants for both OEM and retrofit markets are available. Application areas include on-road (bus and truck) and off-road (heavy-duty construction and farm equipment). Combinations include collection of some or all SCR sensor signals, conversion into CAN messages for external SCR calculator, use of NOx sensor or mapping, or control of external heater for urea tank or pipes, to name a few.

The UDS performs on-board diagnostics to make problem solving very easy for the user. The vehicle operator is informed of its status through signals sent to the alarm box, which indicate which actions should be taken. Finally, all elements are grouped in one compact unit, making integration on the vehicle simple.
