John Deere Power Systems is seeking a Project Leader OEM Aftertreatment to lead a cross-functional team using the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) to develop and implement a new product program and a minor improvement to existing products within the specifications defined by the business case. In this position, you will:
- Coordinate and lead efforts for design and release Aftertreatment for OEM Tier 4 application projects which meet customer needs in a timely manner, working closely with Market Product Planning, Application Design, Supply Management, Factory and Quality personnel.
- Develop strategy for development of both OEM "standard" configurations as well as plans for access to Internal Partner "custom" configurations.
- Ensure that the available OEM Aftertreatment configuration catalog is sufficient to meet customer needs while minimizing complexity and new configuration creation and maximizing reuse.
- Lead development and implementation of the engineering portion of the OEM Application Accessories program for Tier 4 that will include cooling packages, fan drives, intake systems that are used by our distributors and direct customers in the application of our engines.
- Process new project requests including assisting in the business case analysis, formulating detailed project schedule including production implementation and prototype parts, option drawings and 3D models, and product announcement bulletins.
- Work closely with engine performance calibration, electronic control & aftertreatment groups to ensure timely release of calibrations and software for industrial and genset applications.
- Conduct weekly and monthly project reviews and initiate actions to expedite implementation schedules, regularly reporting on status and coordinating activities to address issues and concerns.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Ag Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Master of Science in Engineering or MBA, desired.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a practicing Engineer.
- Mid-career level experience in an engine or engine related industry.
- Knowledge and experience with engines and engine applications.
- Knowledge of OEM engines.
- Strong ability to coordinate multiple OEM projects with work direction responsibility.
- Experience with a product development process.
- Demonstrated team leadership and mentoring experience.
- Excellent communicator and a skilled project facilitator/manager.
- Product engineering experience.
- Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing engineering projects.
- Experience managing large groups of resources and budgets across divisions or units.
