Position Overview
The Project Engineer for Locomotive & Marine applications will be responsible for the successful field testing, development and application of CLIENT'S products, or the introduction of existing products into the Locomotive and Marine markets. This position will be primarily responsible for technical feasibility analysis, sizing and specifying products, prototype development, and coordination of field installation and evaluation of product performance.Job Duties
- Provide application engineering and support for Locomotive and Marine projects
- Provide proposal technical evaluation, application support and comments to customer proposals
- Provide field testing and technical support for Locomotive and Marine projects
- Report on project activities, schedules and results
- Technical application and product extension support
- Manage & complete multiple projects
- Product performance review, recommendation and design options
- Develop product enhancement plans to support sales plans
- Participate in occasional site installations and provide trouble-shooting support on site and over the phone
- Review technology, regulations and market forces that influence sales results
Principal Goals
- Learn catalyst, diesel particulate filter, engine, and control system technology:
- Become the in-house expert on Locomotive and Marine applications
- Attend engineering meetings to understand product engineering, sales, project management, technical service and production requirements
- Develop new procedures; review past policies and processes to improve customer support efficiency;
- Present results from programs to all stakeholders
Requirements
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering. or Chemical Engineering
- Interest in engines, industrial applications, combustion, sensors and control systems
- 3-D modeling software with familiarity with Finite Element Analysis and Computation Fluid Dynamics modeling
- Knowledge of Windows, MS Office, Solid Works, MS Project Management
- 10% to 20% travel, North America primarily with some periods of higher frequency travel
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Language skills - English; secondary language fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, French or German preferred
