The Diesel Technology Forum (DTF) is seeking a full-time Manager of Policy and External Relations. DTF is a not-for-profit 501 c(6) educational organization and is the nation's leading voice for clean diesel technology. Established in 2000, the Forum represents diesel engine and equipment manufacturers, fuel refiners, emissions control technology manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers and allies of the diesel industry. This position:
- Identifies and analyzes policy and industry-related developments that impact the use, design and/or acceptance of diesel technology in a wide variety of applications as well as competing alternative fuels and technologies;
- Develops, implements educational campaigns for federal and state elected officials and government policymakers relative to key policy activities; effectively monitors the performance and results of these efforts;
- Develops and enhance relationships with key stakeholder groups to help advance the Forum's strategic communications objectives and key industry objectives in Washington DC and at the in the States;
- Authors educational materials, briefings, white papers, web content and other written materials to support the Forum's messaging and communication objectives; and
- Develops, implements and measures success of strategies to educate governmental and non-governmental organizations, industry stakeholder groups and others on issues of common interest to the diesel industry.
Requirements: The position requires a minimum bachelor's degree in a related field, with a minimum of 3 years' recent experience in transportation, energy and/or automotive industries, associations, public affairs agencies or equivalent as well as experience with federal and state policymaking process. Experience with creative advocacy using state of the art tactics and metrics-based outreach policymaker campaigns a plus.
A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate outstanding analytical, writing and communications skills, innovative and creative thinking and be metrics and results-oriented. This position requires the ability to work as a team as well as think independently and also requires a demonstrated commitment to providing superior member service in an association environment.
