Position Overview
VCA North America is seeking an Engineer with heavy diesel experience to join a small, cohesive group providing vehicular certification services. This position will report through the VCA Office in Northville, Michigan and will require a significant amount of travel both in North America and, on occasions, overseas.
The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of European (EC & ECE) and EPA/CARB heavy diesel legislative requirements. In addition, practical experience in engine testing is highly desirable. The candidate must demonstrate initiative and be willing to learn other certification subject areas including safety, vehicle emissions, fuel consumption, engine power, agricultural tractors, non-road mobile machinery, trailers and motorcycles for various global markets.
The successful candidate will have a blend of technical and interpersonal skills, the ability to deal with difficult situations with finesse and be able to work effectively as part of a team as well as demonstrate individual initiative. The right personality and temperament are as important as the necessary technical skills.
Requirements
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in a related field, with a minimum of 3 years relevant recent experience.
- Ability to freely travel inside the US and beyond.
- Political and social navigational skills to deal with political and governing bodies.
- Good time management skills with the emphasis on meeting client deadlines.
