US EPA announces diesel retrofit grants

7 May 2004

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced $1.5 million in grants for diesel retrofits under the EPA’s Voluntary Diesel Retrofit Program. Applications will be accepted from state, local, multi-state, and tribal agencies, and non-profit organizations. EPA anticipates ten to fifteen awards, each ranging from $100,000 to $150,000.

The grants will assist in implementing projects that demonstrate the usage of EPA verified equipment in reducing emissions from diesel fleets, including nonroad fleets, that affect sensitive populations—such as children, the elderly, and the chronically ill.

EPA requested notification of intent to apply by 28 May 2004. The deadline for receipt of final applications is July 2.
