Argillon awarded SCR contract from Port Authority of NY & NJ

Argillon LLC announced that it has been was awarded a contract from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to provide its SINOx® SCR system to a marine vessel for the Staten Island Ferry Service.

The project involved the installation of a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system on Alice Austen ferry boat. The Alice Austen is one of several ferries used to provide Staten Island Service between Staten Island and Manhattan. The Alice Austen can carry up to 1,280 passengers. The ferry system is operated by the New York City Department of Transportation and this project was undertaken in cooperation with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The SINOx® system was applied to the two Caterpillar 3516A diesel four-stroke main propulsion engines. The project activities spanned from early 2003 to early 2006. The expected nominal NOx reduction is 16.5 tons per year. The SCR retrofit has been intended as a proof of concept demonstration project.
