Ford to build new diesel plant in the UK

19 October 2000

Ford Motor Co. said it would build a new diesel engine facility at its Dagenham, England plant. Ford had originally planned to reconfigure an existing engine plant at the site as part of a $500 million investment in diesel engine manufacturing and engineering at Dagenham over the next five years.

Now, Ford says it will build a new facility that will “significantly boost” Dagenham’s diesel engine output to 900,000 engines per year by 2004, from the current level of 650,000 engines.
